BC presents positive business figures: Tourism is booming in Bangkok!

A lot has happened in the Thai tourism sector in the last few months, and anyone traveling in Phuket clearly notices the mood of optimism. The progress and challenges were the focus of BC's business results for the first nine months of 2025. Total revenue of 504.8 million baht represents a slight increase of 1.9% compared to the previous year. However, the third quarter wasn't particularly rosy for the region, with revenue coming in at just 80.4 million baht, down 59.4% year-on-year. This development is mainly due to special items from the sale of investments, such as today.line.me reported.

Despite the dip in the third quarter, there are bright spots. The hotel occupancy rate in Bangkok increased from 66.7% in the previous quarter to 75.7% in the third quarter of 2025. This positive signal is not least the result of a stable recovery of the tourism sector, which has become the basis of the economy in Thailand. And the other side of the coin is also exciting: with the new “Mercure Phuket Patong Journeyhub” hotel opening in November, the business prospects for the fourth quarter are more promising than in previous months.

During this time, the Thai government is taking measures to further boost tourism. A new tourism stimulus package has been approved, including tax breaks for domestic travel and corporate events. From October 29 to December 15, 2025, individuals can deduct up to 20,000 baht for domestic travel. Companies also benefit from deduction options for costs incurred during seminars and training courses in Thailand, such as hotelmanagement-network.com reported. These measures aim to increase demand during peak seasons and increase confidence in the travel industry.

The role of tourism in Thailand

Thailand has developed into one of the leading travel destinations worldwide in recent decades. With its cultural diversity, beautiful landscapes and rich heritage, it attracts travelers from all over the world. The numbers also support this trend: in 2024, Bangkok generated over 940 billion Thai Baht in tourist sales, while total income from international tourists reached almost 1.7 trillion Thai Baht, according to this statista.com.

The renovation and modernization of hotels is encouraged by the government to improve the quality of accommodation. These measures could prove crucial to ensuring Thailand's competitiveness in the international market. In addition, the reduction of the consumption tax on entertainment venues to 5% from January 1 to December 31, 2026 will have a positive impact on nightlife in popular tourist destinations, which is of particular importance for the Phuket region.

The prospects for the coming months appear mixed: On the one hand, there is hope through tax relief and government initiatives that domestic tourism can compensate for falling demand from abroad. On the other hand, the feeling of health safety remains an important issue that influences travel behavior. The upcoming festivals and peak season could be crucial to restore economic balance.

The focus on collaboration with large hotel chains and the clear focus on the “Build–Operate–Sell (BOS)” business model show that BC and the industry are ready to adapt to the changing needs of the market and look to the future with a good hand.
