Quality products from Chiang Rai conquer Phuket: Big event started!
A remarkable event to promote quality products from Chiang Rai was held on November 15, 2025 at The Bay of Jungceylon Mall in Phuket. Narin Supamit, the trade representative of Chiang Rai Province, took over the opening. Other prominent guests included Woranit Apiratjirawong, Trade Representative of Phuket Province, and Yaowanit Saetang, Director of the New Enterprise Development Department at the Ministry of Industry. This event had the clear aim of improving the image of high-quality products from Chiang Rai both nationally and internationally, as reported by Top News.
The event runs until November 19, 2025 and offers a variety of activities. The focus is on over 50 high-quality products, including Geographical Indication (GI) products and wellness products. There were numerous sales promotions for trade fair visitors with impressive discounts of over 50%. Highlights include promotions such as “Grab, Share, Review” and “Buy and Win”. Business matching also ensured that producers and entrepreneurs were able to make new contacts and discover opportunities for collaboration.
Tradition and innovation
Of course, culture is not neglected either. Particularly successful were the performances dedicated to Queen Sirikit, as well as performances on Lanna culture, which immersed visitors in local tradition. Such cultural highlights not only underline the region's identity, but also offer guests an entertaining change from their shopping experiences.
The event is part of the “Khon La Khreung Plus” program, which aims to support the purchasing power of citizens and tourists. This shows once again how important it is not only to present products, but also to take into account the social and economic context in which these products are created.
The Importance of GI Products
The strong interest in GI products has also increased impressively in the run-up to this trade fair. During the recent “GI Market on Tour 2025”, held in Chiang Rai from August 25 to 31, 2025, consumers were made aware of the high quality and clear identity of these products. Over 30 stands presented agricultural products, food, textiles and handicrafts. Such events not only help secure income for producers, but also reaffirm national self-confidence and strengthen the local economy, as Chiang Rai Times points out.
The Department of Intellectual Property (DIP) has had great success in promoting Geographical Indication products, and with 239 registered GI products generating a total economic value of over 82 billion baht, the opportunities for future developments are promising. In 2025, 27 new GI products were added, with an estimated value reaching an impressive 6.1 billion baht. The DIP plans to further support these products to strengthen their competitiveness globally, Nation Thailand reports.
Overall, the event in Phuket is not only a great opportunity to shine a spotlight on Chiang Rai's high-quality products, but also a significant step towards strengthening the local economy and building awareness of the cultural treasures these products embody.
