Phuket Takes Measures Against Nipah Virus: Safety Guaranteed for Tourists!
In Phuket, Thailand's popular holiday resort, preparations for a possible health threat are in full swing. Phuket Airport has introduced measures to control and monitor tourists from India to prevent the entry of the Nipah virus. These precautions came after cases of Nipah virus infections and even deaths were reported in India on January 25, 2026. On average, 13 flights from India land at the airport every day, including airlines such as IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, Vietjet Air, AKasa Air and AirAsia X.
The Ministry of Health is keeping a close eye on the situation and is increasing controls at international health checkpoints. Thailand is so far free of Nipah virus cases, but it is important to reassure the population and urge them to follow official information and not to worry unnecessarily.
Arrangements at the airport
To ensure a safe stay at the airport, increased health measures are in place in the passenger terminal. This includes more frequent cleaning of common areas and close cooperation with international health control authorities. Phuket Airport is committed to strictly following the Ministry of Health guidelines and ensuring the safety of all passengers so that travelers can enjoy their vacation without worries even in these challenging times.
