First flight from Uzbekistan: Phuket welcomes new tourists!

On October 31, 2025, Phuket celebrated a special month as the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcomed Centrum Air's first flight from Uzbekistan. The new service, serving route C6529 from Tashkent to Phuket, marks another step in TAT's strategy to increase Thailand's tourism appeal.

The flight, equipped with 186 seats, had an impressive 95 percent occupancy rate and landed at Phuket International Airport at exactly 2:10 p.m. The celebration was attended by eminent personalities, including Santi Sawangcharoen, TAT Regional Director for the Americas, Middle East and Africa, as well as Kanchana Sing-udom, Director of the TAT Office in Moscow, and Siriwan Seeharach, Director of the TAT Office in Phuket. This event is considered an important milestone in promoting tourism in Thailand.

Tourism between Uzbekistan and Thailand

Numerous prominent Uzbek influencers were welcomed upon arrival, who will explore the beauties and cultural highlights of the region from October 31st to November 7th. The seven-day trip is intended to give travelers a comprehensive picture of Thailand's nature, culture and the local way of life in order to get them excited about Thailand as a travel destination. A complete success, as Santi emphasizes, who places the event in the context of TAT's “Airline Focus” strategy, which aims to increase the number of flights and seating capacity to Thailand.

In this context, Thailand, officially known as the Kingdom of Thailand and formerly known as Siam, is positioned as a regional center to meet increased demand from Uzbek and Central Asian travelers. The country, which stretches across Southeast Asia and is inhabited by a population of about 66 million people, has established itself as a popular destination for international tourists. In 2019, Thailand received an impressive 39.8 million foreign visitors, without any influence from recent global events.

A look at Thailand

Thailand is known not only for its stunning beaches and islands, but also for its tasty cuisine and cultural festivals. With an area of approximately 513,115 km² and a rich history dating back up to 40,000 years, the country is a melting pot of traditions and modern influences. It is noteworthy that Thailand remained colonial-free during the era of Western imperialism and remains one of the strongest economies in the region today.

A strong cultural influence from Buddhism and centuries-old traditions make Thailand a unique retreat for tourists from all over the world. This includes not only the impressive nature, but also the warm hospitality of the Thai people, which contributes to the fact that visitors are happy to return again and again.

Overall, Centrum Air's inaugural flight shows that Thailand remains an attractive destination for travelers from around the world and that tourism remains an important industry contributing to the country's growth. So let's remain excited to see what exciting developments the future holds for Thailand's tourism sector and to what extent TAT's strategy will prove itself in practice.
