Phuket celebrates: 14 meter high Ariel Castle delights visitors for the first time!
The magical Phuket now has a new highlight in the cityscape: Central Pattana opened Thailand's first 14 meter high Ariel Castle from “The Little Mermaid” in Central Phuket on December 4, 2025. This impressive structure is part of a major global campaign called “The Magical Stars” that aims to boost Thailand's tourism and economy during the peak season. The campaign runs from November 14, 2025 to January 11, 2026 and promises numerous magical experiences for locals and international visitors alike. Among other things, there will also be Disney princess sculptures as photo motifs that underline the charm of this festive time.
“We want to create joyful experiences through this initiative,” emphasizes Dr. Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, Chief Marketing Officer of Central Pattana. The creation of unique themes in all Central branches is intended to attract not only local but also international guests. Particularly in tourist provinces such as Phuket, an increase in visitors of 25-30% is expected in the last quarter of the year. Central Pattana's commitment is supported by a collaboration with The Walt Disney Company and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to bring the Magical World of Disney here to Thailand.
A feast for the senses
Other highlights of the campaign include the introduction of four Disney-themed kingdoms, which also include a dazzling Christmas tree and 3-meter-tall Mickey and Minnie Mouse statues made from Thai silk. These attractions are part of a strategic initiative to boost the Thai economy called the “Festival Economy”. Held in 24 Central Shopping Centers including Central Phuket, Central Pattaya and Central Chiangmai, these festivities involve the local community in the design of Christmas trees to create special events that combine tradition and modernity.
Central Pattana has invested more than 800 million baht in the campaign. This shows a clear desire to keep Thailand attractive as a tourist destination, especially after the slow recovery of the tourism industry in recent years brought with it numerous challenges. Before the pandemic, tourists contributed about 20 percent of the country's gross domestic product, which is why sustainable tourism is now more of a government focus than ever. Thailand is expecting up to 35 million international visitors again in 2024, with the country working to preserve its beauty and culture for future generations.
A step towards sustainable tourism
The focus on sustainable tourism is also reflected in the Thai government's efforts to avoid overcrowded destinations and embrace controlled visitor numbers, such as the newly regulated Maya Bay. Malaysia and China represent the main markets that will boost the tourism economy in the second half of 2024, while Thailand is becoming increasingly popular in the medical and wellness tourism sectors.
In summary, the new Ariel Castle and associated themed activities in Phuket offer an excellent opportunity to delight both local and international guests and economically strengthen the tourism sector in the region. This innovative project is a prime example of how creative marketing and solid collaborations between different actors can trigger positive waves in the tourism sector. Visit Central Phuket, experience the magical atmosphere and benefit from a festive program that delights young and old.
