Robinson Lifestyle Center: New tourist promotions for Thailand!

Phuket, the sunny paradise in southern Thailand, is experiencing exciting developments in the coming period that could have a decisive impact on the region's tourism landscape. Robinson Lifestyle Center plans to implement comprehensive strategies in five major tourist cities - Suvarnabhumi, Chalong, Thalang, Mae Sot and Mukdahan - to transform these locations into real “tourist destinations”. These steps are critical to better engage international vacationers and meet their needs, as BangkokBizNews reports.

The planned measures include, among other things, special promotions and campaigns that will be designed in close cooperation with local authorities and companies. These include services such as currency exchange, international restaurants and tax breaks, which are intended to significantly improve the shopping experience for tourists. Special mention is also made of events that promote Thai culture, which not only serves to entertain visitors but also strengthens local identity.

Diversity of locations

The focus of the new strategies is clearly on the different needs of travelers. This makes the Suvarnabhumi location, which is directly connected to the airport, a magnet for expats and short-term travelers. Chalong and Thalang are primarily aimed at long-term travelers from Asia and Europe. Particular attention is also paid to Mukdahan, which specifically aims to attract tourists from Laos, and Mae Sot, which is a destination for visitors from Myanmar.

Promotions like “Shop Here Get More!” and the “Tourist Privileges Pack” with discount coupons for hotels and travel providers are also intended to create incentives to use regional offers more intensively. A “Border Pass” is even being introduced for Mae Sot, through which instant discounts can be granted, which not only ensures economic development but also promotes cultural exchange. In addition, the introduction of new services such as luggage storage for day travelers is being considered to make the tourists' stay as pleasant as possible.

A look at the tourism landscape

Thailand, and Phuket in particular, has always been very popular with travelers from all over the world. According to data from Laenderdaten.info, cities such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Pattaya are among the most sought-after destinations, with Bangkok ranking 17th among the world's most popular travel destinations in 2024. Around a third of foreign guests come from industrialized nations in Asia and Australia, which underlines the importance of these regions for the Thai tourism sector.

The beginnings of mass tourism in Thailand date back to the 1970s, when US soldiers often vacationed in the region during and after the Vietnam War. With the withdrawal of US troops, Thailand became a popular destination for travelers from all over the world, known for its hospitality and beautiful beaches.

It remains to be seen whether the Robinson Lifestyle Center's new measures will actually lead to a lasting improvement in the tourism offering in Phuket. However, one thing is certain: the efforts to strengthen the local economy and improve the tourist experience show that there is a good hand to be shown here.
