Lampang presents OTOP treasures: economic power in Phuket!
From today on, everything in Phuket revolves around local products and the region's crafts. The “Lampang Roadshow to Andaman” has opened its doors at The Botanica Hall 1 of Jungceylon Mall, attracting a large number of visitors. This event, which runs until October 26, 2025, is organized by the Lampang Provincial Community Development Office and provides a great platform to market the diverse OTOP (One Tambon One Product) products from this province. A highlight will be the official opening, which will be celebrated today at 5:30 p.m. with prominent guests including the Vice Governor of Lampang and the Vice Governor of Phuket.
40 OTOP suppliers from Lampang will present their products on site, which are available in a total of 2,405 different variants. “We want to stimulate the local economy and increase the visibility of Lampang products,” emphasized the deputy governor.
Diverse offer
The event not only offers shopping opportunities, but also a comprehensive program of cooking demonstrations, workshops, musical performances and competitions. Despite the challenges that such events pose - such as adapting products to tourists' wishes - the expected sales are optimistically calculated and exceed 5 million baht. Visitors can look forward to exclusive and innovative products that highlight local craftsmanship.
The products also include the popular “Kru Kan Mushroom Rice Crackers” and “Thaweephan Rice Crackers”, which have been optimized using modern technologies from the Ministry of Energy. These initiatives have helped reduce production costs and energy consumption. This not only conserves local resources, but also makes the products internationally competitive. These OTOP products are already available in gas stations and stores aimed at health and environmentally conscious consumers, the ministry highlights in a recent announcement.
Innovations and sustainability
The Ministry of Energy recently unveiled an innovative model that transforms local wisdom into sustainable, five-star OTOP products. A focus is on combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technologies to promote efficiency and sustainability. For example, the Ban Suan Mae Tha Mushroom Processing Group benefits from a solar drying system that improves the quality of the products while reducing operating costs.
The partnership between the ministry and local entrepreneurs shows how important it is to integrate modern technologies in production. “The success of these products so far shows the enormous potential of local entrepreneurs,” emphasizes Weerapat Kiatfuengfu, deputy permanent secretary of the ministry. At the same time, they plan to introduce more products at gas stations to increase reach and appeal to younger consumers.
These activities are in line with the Thai government's broader goal of improving living conditions through sustainable business practices and strengthening the local economy. “It is a step towards more sustainable development that benefits both the environment and the community,” explains Kreang Kalltinant, Deputy Minister of the Interior.
So it remains exciting to see how the Lampang Roadshow will develop. Visitors are warmly invited to get to know the variety of products themselves and to make a contribution to strengthening the local economy.
