In Phuket, the signs are all about safety - the police have set up comprehensive checks at several strategic points for the high season. The police led by Pol. Gen. Sakdisira Phueak-um has already arrested 237 people since the controls began. Of these, 86 were arrested for using unregistered vehicles with black license plates. The checkpoints are located at key hotspots including Phuket Airport, Patong and Phuket Town, ensuring accessibility for tourists.

Collaboration for greater security

But it's not just the police who are on the ball. The Phuket Tourist Police have launched a comprehensive campaign, announced on November 6th. The aim of the initiative is to work together with various authorities such as the Marine Police and the Phuket Marine Office to improve the safety of tourists. A key aspect of this safety campaign is drug screening to be carried out on over 1,000 employees and vendors in the tourism sector.
