Loy Krathong Festival: Rassada celebrates tradition with glowing Krathongs!

On November 5, 2025, the Rassada community in Phuket celebrated the traditional Loy Krathong Festival. The scene was the picturesque reservoir of Rajabhat University, where numerous citizens, including the mayor of Rassada, Jirayuth Songyoth, and the deputy governor of Phuket, Somawit Suphanpai, gathered. This festive event was dedicated to the theme “Mother of the Nation, Your Grace Throughout Time”.

A special moment of the celebration was the lighting of candles and a communal silence of one minute to honor Queen Sirikit. Participants launched colorful krathongs to show respect to both the queen and the water goddess Phra Mae Khongkha. Despite the light rain that accompanied the celebrations, the atmosphere was exuberant and participation was lively.

Cultural highlights

The festival also offered visitors a variety of cultural performances. Traditional Thai performances, such as the U-Rak-Lawoi puppet show and the Monora from the south, brought joy to young and old. Recommended pieces such as “Pratip Wathana Ngam Lert La, Nabo Chaa Khuen Wan Phen” and “Duang Jai Rat, Prachaya Sin Phan Din Sayam” impressively demonstrated the rich roots of Phuket culture. The aim of the performances was to preserve the region's cultural heritage.

The event not only paid homage to the past, but also promoted a sense of community and togetherness in the community. Those present were enthusiastic and enjoyed the opportunity to celebrate together and live their traditions.
