British PR expert fulfills her dream: living and working in Phuket!

Cheska Hull, a 40-year-old British reality TV presenter and PR expert, has taken the big step and settled in Phuket. Her decision to move to Thailand was no coincidence. She had been visiting the island regularly for years and made valuable contacts with local business owners. She has now set up camp in the tropical idyll and is not only enjoying the attractive place to live, but also continuing her career as a freelancer.

Before settling in Phuket, Hull went through the same challenges as many expats: first arriving on a DTV digital nomad visa and continuing to work for British clients. Her experience in the PR industry, particularly in the luxury segment, where she has worked for restaurants, bars and the hospitality industry, comes in handy. In London she appeared on the reality show Made in Chelsea for over four years and worked in private members' clubs before deciding to return to the warm climes of Thailand. Interestingly, she was even born in Thailand when her parents lived there in the 1980s. After moving to England and calling off her engagement, she has now started a new life on Phuket, which offers her many new opportunities.

The new professional challenge

Hull currently works as Cluster Director of Public Relations at the Anantara Hotel in Phuket. Her work permit has now been secured and she has familiarized herself intensively with local customs, such as addressing colleagues respectfully. A special ritual in her team inspires her: weekly prayers at a tree with two spirit houses are part of her new work routine. As a result, she quickly integrated into the culture and her pride in her new home grew steadily.

Another plus point: her 8-year-old son also settled in quickly and is eagerly learning Thai at school. The two enjoy the relaxed lifestyle in Thailand and appreciate the good quality of life. “The food, the people and the weather – simply wonderful!” enthuses Hull.

The traffic chaos in Phuket

Like many others in Phuket, Hull's main difficulty is chaotic traffic, especially during high season. However, this is a small price to pay for the quality of life that she and her son enjoy in the Thai sun. Her plans for the future are clear: she wants to stay in Thailand long-term and continue her career in the PR sector.

Choosing to live on Phuket shows how valuable personal and professional freedom can be. Despite the challenges, Hull is happy with her choice. As she says, “I have everything I need here.” Her journey is an inspiring example of how to turn one's dreams into reality, and it remains to be seen what exciting twists and turns her journey will take.
