Tragic currents: two dead and one missing on Phuket's shores!
Phuket's beaches, known for their stunning landscapes and refreshing waters, have been the scene of tragic events in recent days. On November 1, 2025, two members of a Thai family drowned on Bang Tao Beach. The living conditions that led to this fatal situation were in stark contrast to the common safety instructions posted on the beaches. Phumisak Chantajaem, 42, and his 13-year-old nephew Natthawipa Sriprasit ignored red flags warning of dangerous currents and entered the water despite rough seas.
The accident occurred earlier in the day and rescue efforts were initiated immediately. Unfortunately, the forces could not prevent both of them from disappearing underwater. The search for the missing people began at 2:30 p.m. but had to be called off at around 6:20 p.m. due to bad weather conditions. Tragically, the bodies were found near the scene of the accident on the evening of November 2nd.
More tragedies on Phuket's beaches
On November 3, police were called to another incident at Nai Thon Beach. A 31-year-old Russian tourist, Dmitrii Zakutskii, was reported missing after a wave hit him. The circumstances are alarming as authorities have issued a strong warning to the population about the red flags signaling a total ban on swimming during the monsoon season, which runs from May to November. Since the start of this season, around 25 people have died after violating this flag, underscoring the urgency of safety measures.
Phuket also has particularly rough seas this season, making swimming dangerous. The ongoing warnings are intended to remind bathers that the dangers must be recognized with the naked eye. The red flag is more than a sign - it is an invitation to stay away from danger. As harsh as it sounds, nature knows no compromises.
Many holidaymakers do not seem to understand the seriousness of the situation and are therefore exposing themselves to unnecessary risks. Always remember that safety comes first. Ignoring the warnings can have fatal consequences - as the sad fates on the beaches that are currently circulating in Phuket show. A deep understanding of the forces of nature and the importance of warning flags is essential to prevent similar incidents in the future.
All visitors must be particularly attentive and respect the rules of conduct. The beaches may seem inviting, but it is essential to take safety seriously. When the sea is raging, stay at a safe distance - life cannot be learned by heart, but it is important to act wisely.
