International Conference on Biodiversity in Thailand: Call to Action!
Kasetsart University and the National Research Office (NRCT) invite you to the International Conference on Biodiversity (IBD2025) to be held from November 5 to 7, 2025 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Thailand. Under the theme “Biodiversity and humanity in global crisis”, this conference will provide an important forum for the exchange of knowledge on biodiversity, research, conservation and sustainable use. The event coincides with the 70th birthday celebrations of Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who will open the conference with a celebratory address. An honorary video about her achievements in biodiversity research will also be presented, as mgronline.com reports.
The conference has big ambitions and plans to cover a wide range of topics with a total of 212 presentations from researchers from 14 countries, including the Philippines, China and the USA. Dr. Sanit Aksornkaew, chairman of the conference organization, emphasizes the importance of international cooperation. The acting rector of Kasetsart University, Dr. Damrong Sripharama, will emphasize the university's role in biodiversity research. The research will also showcase new species of marine life and ecosystems.
A look at the topics
IBD2025 will cover six key topic areas:
- Biodiversität und Ernährungssicherheit
- Biodiversität und Gesundheit
- Biodiversität und Tourismus
- Biodiversität und Umweltrehabilitation
- Biodiversität und kulturelle Erhaltung
- Biodiversitätsmanagement zur Überwindung globaler Krisen
Researchers, academics and students are invited to submit abstracts for lectures and poster presentations, while international experts will share their knowledge in special lectures. Plenary discussions and exhibitions from various organizations will also be part of the program.
Public invitation and excursions
Those interested have the opportunity to visit the conference and the associated exhibitions free of charge on November 5th and 6th, 2025. On the last day there is also an excursion to urban green spaces - a perfect opportunity to deal with the topics of biodiversity and conservation on site.
This event comes at a time when Thailand is actively committed to protecting its biodiversity. As part of the international climate goals, measures have been defined to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and achieve CO2 neutrality by 2050, as international-climate-initiative.com explains. The focus on biodiversity is also underlined by support for the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, which will form the basis for the fifth Thai National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP 2023-2027).
IBD2025 promises to be a significant contribution to the global discourse on biodiversity and sustainability and warmly invites all interested parties to take part in this inspiring event.
