TOPS Blue Tree Phuket: New shopping hit for expats and gourmets!
On October 27, 2025 the time had finally come: the new branch of TOPS, known as “TOPS Blue Tree Phuket”, opened its doors on the busy Srisoonthorn Road in Laguna-Cherngtalay. This opening is a breath of fresh air and gives both expats and the local premium community access to over 14,600 carefully curated items. TOPS positions itself in this modern shopping environment not just as a supermarket, but as a “Food Discovery & Destination” that offers high-quality products from all over the world.
With a sales area of 550 square meters, customer well-being is taken into account across the board. The tasteful branch design impresses with various zones, ranging from the bakery area and ready meals to a wine cellar and a special area for pet products. Additionally, TOPS integrates local products through their concept called TOPS Tongtin, which aims to support community producers, which is particularly important in times of growing ecological sensitivities. Offered, among other things, Thai grain-fed beef, organic eggs and Quescrem cheese, which together round off the offering.
Grand opening with surprises
To celebrate the opening, a grand ceremony was held attended by numerous prominent guests including Ms. Waranitch Aviratchjirawong and TOPS executives. Until November 16, bargain hunters can benefit from the “Double Delight Deals”, which include promotions such as “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” and cash vouchers for purchases of THB 500 or more. A gift bag is also offered for purchases of THB 1,500 or more.
Phuket: A Living Melting Pot
Phuket, Thailand's largest island, attracts many visitors with its international atmosphere and good weather. With almost 600,000 residents, including around 115,000 expats, it is a place where different cultures mix. Phuket International Airport provides travelers with easy access to the tropical island from cities such as Bangkok, Singapore and Doha. The popular beaches include Karon, Kata and Surin, where there are numerous leisure options.
The cost of living in Phuket is quite affordable, especially compared to Western standards. While local meals can be had for as little as $2 to $4, expats can find apartments ranging from $400 to $2,500 depending on location. More expensive areas like Patong and Surin particularly attract wealthier renters, while neighborhoods like Rawai and Kathu offer better value for money.
Various visa options are available for a long-term residence permit. The easiest access is through a tourist visa, which is visa-free for EU, UK and US citizens for up to 30 days. The Thailand Elite Visa deserves a special mention, which is granted for around $26,600 for five years, but without work rights. Phuket Community also describes the associated challenges, such as traffic during high season and bureaucratic hurdles, which should not be ignored.
Phuket also makes a good impression with its good healthcare. Private health insurance is recommended to benefit from medical services at excellent hospitals such as Bangkok Hospital Phuket and Phuket International Hospital.
With the opening of TOPS Blue Tree, the shopping experience in Phuket will not only be higher quality but also more diverse, which is a welcome addition to this dynamic holiday region. Whether you're searching for groceries every day or enjoying culinary specialties, the new offerings will delight both locals and expats.
