Phuket launches Trusted Thailand Sustainable Tourism Bootcamp
On November 12, 2025, the landmark “Trusted Thailand Bootcamp” dedicated to improving tourism standards in Phuket and Phang Nga was held at The Pago Design Hotel in Phuket. Over 100 participants, including Phuket Governor Mr. Saranasak Srikruenetr, attended the event. The focus was on providing tourism entrepreneurs in the region with in-depth knowledge about applying for the Trusted Thailand symbol. This mark is intended to create trust in the quality and safety of tourist services.
How prd.go.th reports, Mr. Kritada Srisamwong, the Deputy Director for East Asia, gave an insightful presentation on the Chinese market. He emphasized the great importance of the Trusted Thailand symbol, which serves to increase confidence in Thailand as a safe travel destination. Trust, defined as a feeling of security in the character or ability of a person or thing, is central to strengthening tourism, such as merriam-webster.com explained.
New perspectives for tourism
The bootcamp was not only an information event, but also a platform for exchanging ideas and best practices. In order to make tourism sustainable, an additional program called “STGs STAR Clinic” was also introduced. This initiative offers entrepreneurs the opportunity to seek advice on self-assessment in relation to the 17 goals of the Sustainable Tourism Goals (STGs). Sustainability and responsibility are key in today's world and such programs take into account the need to future-proof tourism.
There is already great interest in future events. Additional boot camps are planned in other provinces in the coming weeks: November 14th in Pattaya, Chonburi, November 17th in Khon Kaen and November 24th in Bangkok. These events are intended to further spread awareness of the Trusted Thailand symbol and help increase trust in Thai tourism.
Strengthen trust
Trust is not just a buzzword, but a basis for successful business relationships. It's about conveying a feeling of security and confidence, both for tourists and for entrepreneurs. The boot camp organizers and speakers agree that building and maintaining trust is crucial in this day and age. This also applies to restoring international travelers' trust in Thailand's offerings, which is also encompassed by legal relationships and responsibility for quality and safety - aspects that can also be understood under the term "fiduciary relationship" as it is defined merriam-webster.com describes.
The efforts to provide competent education and support for entrepreneurs in Phuket and beyond are and remain a step in the right direction. As the industry evolves, the question remains: who will hold the “Trusted Thailand” symbol in the future? The answer will become apparent in the coming weeks and months.
