Robinson Lifestyle Center: Your new dream destination for your next vacation!
Phuket is all about change! With the recent opening of Robinson Lifestyle Center on September 20, 2023 in Chalong, Central Retail is investing a whopping THB 1.3 billion in a project that is set to not only revolutionize retail but also emerge as a new tourist destination. The plan is to create a comprehensive shopping center that combines modern and cultural experiences. It covers more than 43,000 square meters and will be fully operational by the end of 2023. The focus is clearly on sustainable development and improving the quality of life of the local community.
What can visitors expect? The shopping center combines various elements under the motto “Retailtainment” with a colorful “Carnival Village”. There's everything here, from international restaurants in the "Food Paradise" to fashion suppliers in the "Fashion Carnival" to the latest technology in the "Magic Carnival". With over 1,500 parking spaces, barrier-free access and a huge range of services, including a major cineplex with up-to-date projection technology, Chalong could quickly become a hotspot for locals and tourists.
Promoting tourism and culture
Robinson has a clear objective: to improve the customer experience for Thai and international tourists. The publication of special promotions in collaboration with local authorities and companies will make the shopping center even more attractive. A highlight is the “Tourist Privileges Pack”, which offers discount coupons for hotels and leisure activities. And don’t forget the innovative “Border Pass” for Mae Sot, which grants immediate discounts upon presentation of the passport.
There are also a variety of events that highlight Thai culture. From the Phuket Vegetarian Festival to the Coffee Camping Party to Halloween celebrations and Christmas activities, there is something for everyone! Such events aim to boost tourism and provide visitors with an unforgettable experience.
The importance of tourism for Thailand
But the success of this new venture is not just in the light of retail. Tourism has traditionally been an important economic driver for Thailand, accounting for around 20 percent of gross domestic product Thailand Magazine reported. According to forecasts, the country could receive 35 million international tourists in 2024, which would represent a huge boost to the local economy.
The Thai government has taken on the challenge of reducing mass tourism and focusing on sustainable travel; this is a reaction to the overuse of natural resources and the environment. Initiatives such as limiting visitors to Maya Bay show that environmental protection and tourism development can go hand in hand.
In this exciting time of change in Phuket, with new projects such as the Robinson Lifestyle Center sprouting up, it will be interesting to see how tourism develops in the coming years. One can only hope that these developments also benefit the local people and create a sustainable, thriving community.
