Thailand starts electric revolution: new charging system for motorcycles!
On October 22, 2025, Bangkok was the scene of a remarkable event when Spark EV Co., Ltd., supported by Cornerstone Technologies Holdings Limited and Mile Green Co., Ltd., hosted an official ceremony to unveil their strategic partnership to introduce a widespread charging system for electric motorcycles in Thailand. The country's fastest charging technology was presented in an exciting setting, which is intended to help significantly shorten charging times.
With a high motorcycle ownership rate in Thailand of 87% per household, the market potential is enormous. Spark EV plans to integrate over 100 existing charging stations while offering three new models of electric motorcycles powered by VMOTO. This initiative is a smart step to increase access to electric motorcycles for the general population and promote e-mobility in the country.
Setting the course for the future
With a focus on innovative financial solutions such as Rider Financing and loyalty programs via the Web3 platform EVOLVE, a comprehensive approach is taken to increase the awareness and use of electric motorcycles. This is in line with current developments across the ASEAN region, which requires at least 135,000 new charging stations by 2030 to meet the growing demand for electric vehicles, such as Thailand EV Charging Infrastructure determines. A strong network is crucial to support the transition to greener mobility.
Next year, Thailand will host a major channel for the automotive industry through the EV Charging Infrastructure Thailand 2024 event. It's all about developing robust electrical infrastructures and the latest charging technologies that can compete with European standards.
A look ahead: The Bangkok International Motor Show 2025
The 46th Bangkok International Motor Show, which will take place from March 24th to April 6th, 2025 at Impact Muang Thong Thani, promises exciting insights into electromobility. At the last event, electric vehicles already accounted for 32.8% of vehicle orders, which represents a significant increase compared to the previous year. Various new models from manufacturers such as Toyota and BYD will be presented there, while the Thai government is planning tax incentives for the production of plug-in hybrid vehicles from 2026.
The trade fair highlight will also provide space for smaller companies to present their innovative concepts, including such original ideas as FIREBRIGHT's battery replacement concept. The event is not only a platform for major automobile manufacturers, but also promotes fresh ideas and developments in the field of electromobility.
With the combination of public-private partnerships and a clear strategic plan, Thailand is well positioned to take a leading role in the e-mobility industry. The country plans to convert about 30% of annual vehicle production to electric vehicles by 2030, supported by international investments and numerous government support programs.
